The Health Club
Besides opening with a quote which says Health is wealth, there is much more to talk about the Health Club at GIM.
Looking after the well-being of 500 people on campus is no mean task, and this bunch of people face a barrage of questions and issues every single day. Be it the food at the cafeteria, ‘Pastry Palace’ or Kailash’s juice store; or managing the gymnasium, the Health Club has the final say in some of the most important aspect of a student’s life at GIM.
Hats off to you, Health Club!
Hriday – The ‘HR’ club of GIM
HRiday is one of the 4 functional area-based clubs at GIM, defining themselves by their mantra of “People. Passion. Performance.”
Responsible for some of the coolest events on campus like ‘HRcules’ and ‘Vivacity’, Hriday also takes care to cater to the HR batch through ‘Anveshan’ (their national-level case study competition and symposium) and talks under the ‘Gyaanodaya’ banner. It isn’t all about HR though as they organize ‘I know what you did last summer’ – interactive session where PGP2s share their summer internship experiences and ‘Sanjeevani’ – A blood donation camp.

Prayas – The ‘Sports and Student Welfare’ Club
The sports and student welfare club of GIM, Prayas events (and by extension the ‘Prayasis’) are among the most popular on campus. From ‘Street Football’ to ‘Smash’ (badminton), ‘Panache’ on Diwali to ‘Matka Phod’ on Janmashtami, delivering superhits is as much in their blood as it is in Robert Downey Jr. Fun, energetic, and very cool, Prayas typifies the qualities of the average GIM student.
The average student in an MBA college pores over reams of pages (on-screen or otherwise). But real life is not just taught in books, the application of these concepts and fundas are different in the real world. That’s where ‘RT’ comes in.
Giving much-needed exposure to students through some of the industry leaders and prominent speakers, RT endeavours to make students battle-ready.

At Goa Institute of Management we believe in giving back to the society. Samarthan is the student club which helps the students to maintain and promote the culture of being socially responsible. Vinidhan – The ‘Student Investment Fund’ of GIM
Knocking on the doors of the Bombay Stock Exchange is ‘Vinidhan’ – the unique Student Investment Fund (SIF) of GIM.
This year, GIM joined the league of just a handful of top colleges running an SIF. The concept of the fund is to raise money, perform in-depth equity research into companies trading on the Exchange, and reinvest the profits for further growth. This allows students to gain useful insights into the industry. It isn’t all about investment banking though, as the effort goes on to educate students with different aspects of finance – from reading a balance sheet to how companies deal with mergers and acquisitions.
BRAINVISTA- The quizzing club of GIM
Brainvista is GIM’s very own “Who’s gonna be a millionaire?” without the millionaire part. Brainvista is the quizzing club of GIM. Fret not though, audience, the quizzers at Brainvista don’t do the normal mundane quizzes. They are a combination of creativity, knowledge and fun. The themes of the quizzes are so interesting that they pull crowd in huge numbers. Brainsvista continues to bring in freshness and creativity in their quizzes and sharpen the zeal for quizzing both on campus and off.
E-Cell @ GIM
“Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t, so that you can live the rest of your life like most people won’t.”
It is no secret that the opportunities a business could give you are mammoth magnitude. And perhaps one of the major reasons why many people do an MBA is Entrepreneurship. So that there shan’t be any problems for such aspiring Entrepreneurs, GIM has a club to to cater to these specific needs; The E-Cell. The E-Cell has many events through the year, but perhaps the most celebrated even is “UTSAV”, the cell, indeed, provides the students to run their very own entrepreneurial venture for a day. The cell takes a step ahead and launches the E-Cell privilege card every year, which provides the entire GIM fraternity including students, alumni and faculty with lucrative discounts & benefits in various outlets all over the state.

IT @ GIM is the club that takes care about all the things commerce graduates don’t understand like computers, networks and other such alienated magic. This Systems club of Goa institute of management is a student-driven club committed toward keeping the students up to date with the needs and requirements of the corporate world from technological perspective. They also host some fun events every trimester. Besides all this, they also have Lakshya: An initiative to help first year students with their summer placements via a series of presentations and documents on the companies visiting campus that would assist them with the procedure.
RaZzMaTaZz- The cultural club
The lovely people in RaZzMaTaZz who are affectionately called razzies are the ones who make sure fun events keep happening throughout the year. The parties like the Fresher’s, Mid-summer’s and the farewell are all organized by these Razzies who sacrifice their fun-time in parties so that everyone else has a good time. Good people these Razzies are. Besides this, they also have some interesting events like Zumb-it-up: A Zumba workshop, Musica: The Antakshari competition and many more. They also take the onus of helping GIM Students celebrate festivals like Lohri, Christmas, etc.
At this college we love our life, and the Razzies make sure it is no other way!
Scopes- The supply chain and operations club
Operations is one of the most underrated specializations in an MBA. This would absolutely stop without efficient operations. SCOPES, the Supply Chain and Operations Club, strives to live up to the vigour of Operations enthusiasts and is a step ahead in ensuring that learning doesn’t stop beyond books. They go by the Motto: Observe, Operate, Optimize. Scopes arranges for some very interesting events which gives the students some practical knowledge of operations and tests them on various factors like team work, strategy, competitive spirit, analytical skills, etc. Their flagship event, Beer Game, is an open challenge for teams to compete and prove themselves as the most efficient strategists.
Industry Institute Interaction
In a business school, you’re taught everything you’d need in the real world. But yet, the ‘real’ real world will always be different from the theory of the real world. Industry Institute Interaction Club, or as we call them i3 for short, are the ones who do the valuable job of getting the students in touch with the industry for live projects.
The experience of live projects ensures the learning can be applied in the practical environment. This helps the students get their hands on the live problems of the industry and help with them/give suggestions.
To sum it up, if students had to thank someone for keepin’ it real (literally), it would be i3.
Emotional Intellectuals Society
An MBA is taxing, ask any MBA graduate. The nights are sleepless and the days are long. And all this when done far away from home, in a new home takes a toll on you. But so does a job, and to deal with this you need a certain amount of emotional quotient. EIS as a society tries to bring out the best in students, increase their confidence, organize events and workshops to help them achieve their maximum potential. EIS is here to train the Emotional Intelligence (EQ) in students which is the single greatest contributor to personal excellence and leadership.
Students are the most important part of a B-School, and when they graduate, they take the name of Alumni, becoming the most important long term stakeholders of their Alma matter. Alumni Association, through various endeavors like The Grand Alumni meet, Summer Solstice or Hangout makes sure that there is a strong connect between the institute and the Alumni.
It’s easier said than done, though. Days, weeks and months of preparation go alone for The Grand Alumni meet where all the past students are invited for an interaction with the students and faculty at the Goa- Sanquelim campus.
Mecca is one of the biggies at GIM considering that it is the core club for Marketing and majority of the students go for marketing here. Mecca organizes a host of events like Sale away, Boot camp, Contrabrand, Point blank, etc. Always with amazing promotions and an effort to imbibe fun and learning, the events are both fun and marketing oriented. They also organize WIZBIZ: India’s largest student organized corporate quiz and Brainwash: an annual national level case study competition conducted for IFB Industries Pvt. Ltd.
Kudos Mecca! Keep up the good work.
